Why register with your parish?
Is it really that important?
People often think it doesn’t matter if they are registered at a parish or not —
until they want to:
- Be a Godparent for a child at their Baptism
- Become a Sponsor for someone at their Confirmation
- Get Married in a Catholic Church
- Apply to a Catholic or Christian school
- Receive financial assistance to attend a Catholic or Christian school
Then they find out that their pastor is asked to sign a form verifying they are
a registered and active member of a parish (meaning you participate in worship,
contribute to the offertory, and possibly volunteer in a ministry).
If you are registered, this is quick and easy! You are in the database. We see you!
But if you are not registered, it is not so easy.
In addition, registering with your parish provides you with:
- Spiritual Care from your pastor, who is here to serve his faithful parish family
- Connection and sense of belonging with a community of faith
- Yearly Giving Statements for tax purposes (made possible by your Offertory Envelope number)
- Easy Faith Formation Registration and Payment
- Option of Internment in our Memorial Garden
- Ability to Volunteer within the parish
- Parish communications that non-registered people don't receive
How do you know if you are registered?
Going to Mass every week does not mean you are registered. The easiest way to tell is if you receive Offertory Envelopes, or know your unique envelope number. If you are not sure, send a request by email to
parishoffice@sspeterandpaul.org. Include your name, address and phone number. Or call the parish office at 941-795-1228.
Being registered shows you value your parish and contribute to its life and wellbeing with your time, talent, and treasure.
